Ian didn’t show any sign of surprise with the words spoken by the young man, It would be easy for anyone to think that what was said was a total lie but, there was something in his behavior, his movement, his language, that told Ian that Kai was saying the truth and, if it was like that, he needed to be more careful than usual to protect his client.
“I do believe in balance. But, to be honest, nowadays we live in a world ruled by demons, not only people who look like them, but also by our inner demons. We live afraid of what might happen or what would happen if we act in a certain way or another. Do you feel your inner demons taken over you? I mean, you’re an angel but living in a vicious world…” he asked while taking notes for a moment of every gesture he could notice when the question was made. He wanted to know how Kai was dealing with everything after all, being in that situation could mess up any person’s mind.
The doctor seemed to understand what Kai attempted to explain. His origins did not matter anymore. It was all about the present and the future. He had a duty no matter what he thought, no matter how he acted. “I get that. You’re right. We do live in world ran by demons. And humans and immortals alike, have demons within.” He became more alert in the doc’s inquiry. Challenging his thoughts almost as quickly as his heightened metabolism, which was causing him to become hungry yet again. Removing a chocolate bar from his jacket pocket, Kai devoured two bites and answered with no pretense. “I am not worried about my inner demons, I am more worried about the challenge to be the one standing between them and the people I love..” He sighed. It was never in his nature to be selfish. The people he loved though, what he believed to be, the most significant part of his life and his being, were mingled with the priorities of saving any humans he encountered, unfortunately. “I am supposed to stand between demons and any human in harms way.”
He was taught to both love yet to be disconnected enough to walk away because his duty called him to do so. Thoughts that could drive anyone mad with confusion. “I sometimes don’t know what my priorities are. I am here to learn about humanity, and how precious and beautiful it is, so I must stand tall to defend it. But what about me? What about the people who make my life precious and beautiful? What’s to become of us when I have to depart? I ain’t Bruce Wayne and I never asked to be Batman. I’m eighteen. I’m only eighteen.”

Ai watched Noctis as he watched Stubby before sitting down, a snort resonating in the back of her throat. It was like the bigger dog was thinking, This short thing is weird and hyper, but I guess it won’t do any harm, I’ll just watch the strange thing, which is kind of what she thought Duke and Jae thought about her. Looking up from the dogs, she shrugged in response, contemplating how nice it must be to be able to eat so often and yet look how they did. Probably because they were tall. Damn the tall.
At this point she couldn’t tell if they were joking with her or being completely serious, so she side-eyed Declan and gently nudged her dogs side with her foot in thought. “Isn’t the point of going on a walk to…you know…walk? Pushing me in a cart would defeat the purpose!” She paused before glancing back down to the fat, short animal called a dog and then back to Noctis. “I— No, I doubt your poor animal could pull me in a cart. That’d be really embarrassing anyway! Maybe I should pull you in a cart! Or…we could get you and Declan pregnant bellies and we can race.” She didn’t mean it, not whole-heartedly, but it’d be fun and the idea of seeing them both waddling and complaining because of it was amusing.
Declan took out a camcorder from the library for him to use during their nature walk along Han River Park. The snow had fallen and he wanted to record his first Seoul snow flurries. He pointed the camera to his face and spoke to it, documentary style. “Today we are here with a very pregnant lady, we call, Hammie. She has a surname, however sh doesn’t enjoy it when we refer to her by that name. When I first met her, I thought her name was Hammie.” He shrugged in front of the camera, not giving a reason to why he called her Hammie. Pointing the camera to Beckham he directed him to say a few words before their trip to the park.
“The weather isn’t too bad, the snow has fallen but it only stuck on the flora, not even the roads. For Seoul commuters that is a good thing as they head safely home. I think we are bundled up and ready to go,” Beckham added while placing the white Akita’s collar securely. “This is my mini-horse, his name is ironic. We call him Noctis which means night, but he’s white. We should have named him Ghost.” Declan added, “or Jon Snow.” He wanted to say Snowball, but that would have been lame. The camera pointed at the shorter woman with the round dog. “Introduce yourself and your dog. Are you ready to go on this adventure with us?”
He looked at Duke, with pleading eyes. “Where’s my Ferrari?”
“Kai! You’re here too? Where’s Beckham and Declan?” Bella started laughing at the teenager’s expression which reminisced her baby boy’s adorable eyes when he wanted something.
Entered the family area of the home carrying Topstar’s and Isabella’s boy in his arms. “I tried tying up Lauren’s hair in a pony tail like you do but I failed.” He handed the small boy to the oversized boy while he got himself a drink. “You don’t even know how to drive, Kai.”
